Klunking noise in rear

Reposting this subject, was originally listed in C-4. I have a 1977, 4-speed. Have a klunking noise in rear somewhere when decellerating. Do not get it when I step on it but only when I let off the gas. Have replaced shocks, rear spring mounts. U-joints look good, differential support looks good, seems like it is coming from only the right side. With car on jacks it seems like I have more endplay in rear on right than left. Also thinking it might be torsion bar rubbers. What signs would a bad wheel bearing give?
Any help appreciated.

First off it will make noise, then it will wear the tires usually on the inside. The biggest problem is a bad bearing will generally kill the spindle if you don't catch it in time. If you suspect them I would just replace the units with some from Zip, Vette brakes and parts or mid america.Your going to have to do it sooner or later anyway. If thats not the problem you will more than likely find it upon disassembly of the rear suspension . do both since the other side has just as many miles on them. ( usually ) thats my 2 cents worth hope it helps.

but on his it is worn brake callapers

Remember too that a driveline "winds up." All those u-joints, gears and whatnot will "clunk" at times upon deceleration. The driveline in my '79 has a vocabulary all its own! And in that small cabin, every noise is amplified...with the tops off, I hardly hear anything.

I had a '94 Jeep Cherokee 5-speed that I took back to the dealer complaining about all the clunks. The dealer said it was normal. 90,000 miles later, I believe him!
