Corvette 1964 - all around drum brakes.

Problem:

I ordered a set of direct bolt-on knock-off rims from Virginia Vettes.

They fit on the front wheels, but the center hole is just a little to small to fit over the center hub on the existing wheel in the back wheels.

Anyone else experience this problem?
Any ideas on how to make it fit?

Thanks - John

I had Virginia Vettes bolt on knock offs added to my '64. There was no problem with putting them on the car.

Hi Firstgear,

I fixed it. Called up the company and they told me to sand down the old center hub piece.
It was slightly rust, enough to keep the new rim from going on.

I sanded it down and got the new rims on!

Looks great - Like yours.

My 64 looks just your, except no sidepipes.

What kind of a shifter do you have on it? Mine has an old Hurst, but I want a stock look on it.

Thanks for the tip

Wayne,

Thanks - Yes I ordered this and it does not fit at all.

I must have an old type Hurst. It does not follow the 2 hole configuration.

I think the only thing I can do is replace the entire shifter with either the GM stock replacement OR a Hurst shifter that accepts this original looking chrome ball and T handle.

What do you recommend?

Thanks & Corvettes Forever! - John
