I could be wrong but it seems finding a extra knock-off wheel for a spare

is getting harder to find than Bigfoot.;LOL It seems every time I check one

of the parts suppliers the wheels are on backorder AND the price is going up!

I ordered some parts today and inquired about a spare wheel - the price in the

catalog was $325.00 in a 2005 part catalog - and I was told that the price

is now $365.00 and is back ordered till August and would cost $70.00 to ship.:ugh

I don't even need a brand new one...just one in good shape that can be used

in case of a flat. I've got Western Wheel repros on now. Is Carlisle the

only place left to get a good wheel at a good price?

Has anyone out there gone through this and have some suggestions?

Thanks,

Nick

Looking for the single KO for spare purposes is a well-known hunt, these Vette forums are full of "need a single KO" in the parts wanted sections. I gave up trying to get one from overpay-bay and forum members and bit the bullet a while back and got a brandy new "single" from Paragon - this was well before the recent shift in production shortage on KOs. At the time, there was one single on ebay but it was in need of repair before it could be used. And I have seen the odd single since, but with the frequency of solar eclipses.

Buying one retail was an expensive way to go, but I needed / wanted one for a spare and spent over a month looking for a single.

Thanks for the info and quick reply...I went through this long search when replacing

my side-pipes. I am hoping to find one at Carlisle, if not then I will go back to Paragon,

Corvette Central etc. I have been please with Parqagon so far..no complaints.

so true, but some parts are "need it real soon" (I put having a spare in that category, plus I was getting ready to order up a set of Goldlines and wanted the spare rim situation straightened out in time to mount all 5), while others are "patiently looking for the perfect one to come up" like that perfectly-dated carb that would simply replace the perfectly-functioning yet incorrectly dated carb that sits on the engine at present.

I too enjoy the hunt though, in fact I finally found that properly-dated 2818-1 Holley I have been patiently looking for for over two years!
