Thanks for the info. Looks like my 04 falls into the recall. Do we have to wait to be notified or can we just go to a Chevy dealer and have it fixed?

I got notified by letter about 6 mos ago. It specifically states that you have to HAVE A LEAK to get it fixed. No leak, no fix, unless that changed.

You do not have to wait to be notified, as long as the vehicle falls into the parameters of the recall it will be performed by the manufacturer.

As stated by froggy it may need to be an active leak to qualify for repairs, so it would be a good idea to call your local dealer (have your vin number ready) and ask them how to proceed. Good luck with it.

My advice is that, if your 2004 Corvette is between the break points (SNs 10258 and 25500), you should take the car to a dealer ASAP and ask them perform the fuel leak test, referenced in the TSB text, which is explained in "SI" (GM's electronic service information) or on page 6-853 of the 2004 Corvette Service Manual.

The reason I say this is you could have a fuel leak, but you might not smell the gasoline vapor and the leak may not be large enough to drip on the ground.

This leak test involves pressurizing the tanks then observing the quick connects to see if there is leakage. That's the only proper way to determine of the any of the quick connects leak.

Dealers may try and avoid running the test by doing a "visual check" but, if it were me, I'd refuse to accept anything less than the proper diagnosis–ie: the fuel tank pressure test in SI or the FSM–for which, if I read the TSB correctly, GM will pay the dealer .3 hr labor.

Thanks Hib. I took the vette to the dealer today and they found no leaks as of yet. They pressured tested and it held. I have until 2014 to get this fixed under the recall so I will keep an eye on it for now. Have a great weekend!

If they pressure tested the tanks and there were no leaks, you have no problem.

My understanding of this if the quick connects are defective or faulty, they'll leak during that test. If they are not defective or faulty, they will not leak.
