Kyle Busch gets speeding ticket: 128 in a 45 mph zone

maybe NASCAR should suspend him for 2 or 3 races............

...and he isn't in jail? If it was you or me, we'd be a guest of the local government.:eyerole

WOW - Lexus is getting some free exposure/marketing from their ToYoDa Cup Drivers...

NASCAR’s Kyle Busch busted for going 128 mph in this car...

Matt Hardigree —NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, who is currently third in the Sprint Cup standings, was charged with reckless driving this afternoon for driving 128 mph in a 45 mph zone in what's being described as a "yellow Lexus sports car." Ahem, Lexus LFA. Update!.

It all happened Tuesday afternoon near Troutman, North Carolina. A Sheriff's deputy who is a member of the "Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team" clocked Busch in what we assume is an LFA along Perth Road. Busch was cited for careless and reckless driving as well as speeding.

Busch drives the Interstate Toyota Camry, which might explain how he got hooked up with the fast ride, which the one teammate Denny Hamlin bragged about driving just yesterday. We've got a picture of the offender above.

Maybe he was just celebrating his big truck win?

UPDATE: Lexus just provided Jalopnik with a statement regarding the car, which they confirmed was an LFA loaned to Busch by the company:

The Lexus LFA is a unique sportscar with tremendous capabilities. Lexus gave Kyle Busch the opportunity for a demonstration drive and he obviously chose to test those capabilities. He is scheduled to return the LFA tomorrow and we're confident he'll do so in a responsible manner.

Looks like Lexus is getting their car back and they're not worried about him blasting above 120 mph to do it.

As a retired driver and race team owner, I do agree he should be held to a higher standard. But not arrested. He is getting plenty of bad press over this. If it were 99% of the population no one would care. Im not a Busch fan. I think he carries himself wrong. Both brothers come off as if they think they are better than the people around them. However, it is hard to argue with how well both of them drive

Andy............................?

That would be so cool. Andy is my all-time favorite motorsports figure. His story couldn't be made up. I covered motorsports back in the day, and loved to interview him and sit in his press conferences. The guy is an icon.:beer

I read the book "They Call Me Mr. 500" in 1972. I still have it somewhere, I bought it at the PX in Da Nang!!

Great Book and as Rich says The Man and his Brothers were great pioneers and innovators back in the day. From collecting pop bottles to Street Racing to the INDY 500 :thumbs

If he has it, he's sitting on a fortune. That's one of the most iconic team uniforms ever devised (but, you know that). He had the knack for being seen, and never missed a chance to hawk STP.

Just curious, exactly why should he not be arrested if the rest of us would have been?

My prob with this is two fold....

1: Wife was in the car
2: Near a school zone

As a former driver, you know the risks of high speed and accept those risks as part of your job.

I am willing to put my life in the hands of my own skill....however...I am NOT willing to put the safety & lives of others( non race drivers) In my hands. That was just plain dumb.

Most states do not arrest - jails are too full with real bad guys - plus it would have served no purpose - the fines he faces are the same. In CA and many states it is at the discretion of the officer
