Does anyone know the specs for the L 82 motor for 75 or can you suggest a cam for my car I will be keeping the original exhaust manifolds and intake and carb setup but want a little better performance ....... I am interested in duration @.50 and lift and lobe sep info and how your cam works in your vette. Thanks

(must be a secret I don't know that will make the columns line up - tabs don't seem to work. This is the best I can do.)

ken have you tried any of these cams in your car ? If so how do they perform ?

In order to really take advantage of a cam upgrade you really should be thinking of replacing the heads. Get one with the larger intake valves that came on L82 (2.02) and smaller chambers. The L48 and L82 heads are smog heads 76cc and prone to running hot and cracking because of the design. It's basically your choice as to Aluminum or Iron. There are some pros and cons to both.

I like the XE262, altho in terms of HP and Torque they are pretty much the same the 262 makes the torque a little lower in the RPM range. More in line to where and how I operate the car. It's not a race car, but I do like to get on it every now and then. I don't plan on running it at 5000 RPM a lot.

A cam and heads choice all depends on "what" you are building the engine to do. Once you have that figured out then the choices pretty much fall in line.

Exhaust. If you go to true dual 2-1/2" pipes with a single muffler at the end of each you will REALLY feel a boost. If you go with full length headers you will gain even more, but I'd make the cam and heads mod first before adding headers.

I just finished installing a XE 262, 1.6 roller rockers, Vortec heads, performer intake, TCI 2k converter & hedman headers on my L48. I am still in the process of getting everything dialed in but seat of the pants feel is promising. Just a little lumpier idle than I wanted but it is probobly from the 110 deg LSA. Liveable though. I read a test on a motor with the exact same combination as mine except on a 305, not a 350 & the 305 made 325hp. So I am hoping for around 340 or so. The Vortec heads are supposed to be one of the best heads you can run for a mild street motor, & they are priced right. The only hitch about the Vortecs is they will not handle alot of valve lift in the stock configuration. Summit sells the upgraded heads with machined guides, dual springs, & set up for screw in studs for about 360 ea. They are good for .550 lift.
