"L88 Hood Decals"?

I've never heard of any "L88" hood decals. As far as I know, and some of the books I use for C3 research seem to support this, the only identification on an L88 hood was a metal "427" insignia.

But, on the other hand...
:nono
...since you're building an "L88 clone" perhaps you'd better put them on the hood so people can tell your "clone" from the real L88s.

I have seen a couple of photos of a '67 L88 - either early production or pilot - that had these stickers on the hood and on the valve covers and is supposedly original. '68 and '69 Corvettes did not use them. As Hib said, the hoods had the standard '427' numbers. In fact the only marking on a '68/'69 L88 that distinguishes it as an L88 is the console plate, the octane sticker, and the hood style.

The stickers are cool though. I bought a set myself. They look great on my toolbox. :-)

Kinda like the 1000's of "NOS" ZL1 console data plates that keep popping up on eBay.

GM really messed up on that one. I mean, did they REALLY think they would sell that many ZL1 Vettes?

;)
