Anybody know of any boooks to tell me how to add a little oomph to my 88 Conv.'s L98. Would like to build a 350 and install it in the car. (Keep the original engine stock) Any limits on where I get an engine from.....(car or truck...years...etc) Would like to build something that can use the cars computer and TPI(with some modifications I'm assuming) Just looking for a nice lumpy sound....dont wanna get too crazy. Plan on exhaust mods too....winter projects...ya know what i'm talkin bout....Thanks for any info....Ed

Ed,

Search through this mods section, and you will find dozens of threads where people are wanting and getting what you are after.

You can also see www.tpis.com for their inside hints on tuning the L98 for more power.

In my opinion, the only way to approach performance mods is to do so with a specific goal in mind....1/4 mile, 0-60, top end, sound, etc. as what you are after, then build around that. If you just stab in the dark bolting on this and that, you may end up with a car that does not do any of the things you set out for except to get worse gas mileage!

Sit down and think about what you really want along with a budget, and we can all pitch in, and or you can search the threads to find the best route to get there.

DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR
buy these books, FIRST it will be the best money you ever spent, read them, and you will be miles ahead of the average guy. youll save thousands of dollars and thousands of hours once youve got a good basic understanding of what your trying to do! keep in mind as you modify your corvette that engines are a combo of parts that MUST MATCH AS TO THE RPM LEVEL AND AIRFLOW if your to get good results. the stock TPI engine is built to be efficient in the 1500rpm-4500rpm range, if you want significantly more hp youll need to increase the engines effective rpm range to the 3500rpm-6000rpm range, the cars gearing to stay in that higher rpm range and the intake, heads, cam and exhaust to flow the aproximately 45% greater airflow that necessary to do it! IF YOU CORRECTLY SELECT AND MATCH THOSE PARTS YOU CAN GET IN THE AREA OF 150 TO 200 MORE REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER BEFORE ADDING NITROUS
