Carlisle Events' Lance Miller Slated to Race in Europe

Company Co-Owner to Compete in the Dunlop 12 Hours of Italy March 14/15, 2014

CARLISLE, PA – Lance Miller, co-owner of Carlisle Events and event manager for Corvettes at Carlisle has always had a love for racing. His Corvette collection includes multiple historic racing Corvettes and he frequently gets behind the wheel to do a little racing of his own. This weekend, March 14-15, 2014, Miller takes his racing passions to a new level, competing in the Dunlop 12 Hours of Italy. Miller will be one of the drivers taking the wheel of a specially equipped BMW as it attempts to complete (and win) at the famed L'autodromo del Mugello in Scarperia Firenze, Italy.

The 3.259 mile long racecourse, consists of 15 turns and has a seating capacity of 50,000. This style of course fits perfectly with Miller's need for speed, as he frequently takes part in races on courses such as this. The difference this time, however, is that Miller is taking his driving skills to Europe to officially compete for the first time ever. For Miller, though, it's not the first time he has driven on European soil. In 2010, Miller took (and drove) a rare racing Corvette, known as the Cunningham #3 car, to Le Mans, France where it was celebrated 50 years after its triumph at the 24 Heures du Mans, or 24 Hours of Lemans in 1960.

Also, the race in Italy this weekend is the first of five endurance races on the 24 Hour (or 24H) series circuit. The Dutch agency, CREVENTIC, is the promoter of the 24H series, consisting of 12 and 24-hour endurance races. The races are held at fascinating circuits all over the world, aimed at amateurs and gentlemen drivers, semi-professionals and professional drivers. A wide variety of ‘tin top’ touring cars, GTs and 24H-Specials (silhouette cars) are eligible to race. This includes ‘hot hatchbacks’ up to proper GT3 machinery and purpose-built race cars. Additional races include the 24 Hours of Dubai, 12 Hours of Zandvoort, 24 Hours of Barcelona and 12 Hours of Hungary.

Miller has already departed central Pennsylvania and will be behind the wheel of the BMW for the race this coming weekend. While he will be behind the wheel for this 12-hour race, he won't be alone. Joining Miller will be fellow American driver Jim Broidy as well as Cor Euser of the Netherlands and El Salvador's Toto Lassally. In addition to this competitive excursion, Miller and his wife Michelle will be staying in Italy to enjoy what he claims to be their long overdue first official honeymoon.

"I'm fortunate to be able to race this weekend in Italy," said Miller. "I'm excited about the opportunity to get behind the wheel of this race-prepared BMW and to represent Carlisle Events halfway around the globe. I hope we do well and who knows, maybe the #55 Radium Engineering/Carlisle Events car will find its way to victory circle." Miller concluded by noting, "I'm also excited to have my lovely wife on this trip with me. We never had the chance to take a full-fledged honeymoon when we were married sometime back and after she lets me race, we're going to enjoy the sights and sounds of one of the most beautiful regions of the world. Life really is good!"

Complete details about the racing series and race itself can be found via DUNLOP 12H ITALY-MUGELLO 2014 : endurance racing for touring cars, GT cars and 24H Specials. In addition, Miller plans to post periodic updates via the Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals Facebook page. That page can be found on Facebook at @ImportKitNationals.
