I recently bought 78(opt)-82 seats to put in my '77. I'm about to order the pre-mounted foam/covers. They seem to be offered in two different versions. So, what's the difference between the 2" and 4" bolster?

There's a HUGE difference in comfort. 2" vs. 4" is the distance front the front seam of the side bolster to the inside back cushion of the seat back. My stock '81 came with 2" bolsters. I changed out the seats to leather in 4" (thinking they'd be more comfortable). NOT!!! Unless you are a jockey and not have wide shoulders like me stay with the 2" bolsters. I have to use a small specially made pillow to fill the gap so I can ride comfortably. If I'd only known. The 4" are so uncomfortable I've considered buying new seat backs at 2" and eat the cost.

Hmmm, the reason I decided to put these seats in my '77 is because I loved them in my '81 (now deceased). I'll stick with the 2" then. Thanks!

May I ask where you pick-up the seats. I hate my 77s they are as hard as a rock.
Thanks

Ebay of course. I got 3 1/2 seats (one power) for $75. Brush'em up, prime'em, paint'em. Then buy new pre-mounted on foam seat covers from Wilcox for $499 and there you go.

Thanks I need to get a Hurst shifter first, my butt is old and hard, so I will wait awhile.

Thanks for the info I will file it away.
