I noticed recently that my car was running hotter than normal (95 A4 coupe).
Usually runs around 190 and I throw on the fans at 210.
As soon as I would stop in traffic the temp would start to climb with in seconds.
I have a 160 therm and a manual fans switch. Normally my car would run about 100 degrees over the ouside air temp while moving, and it would take about 3 minutes of being stopped before it would go from 180 to 210.
So I took off the radiator shroud and was expecting lots of dirt and debris clogging up the radiator. Well it didnt look like much, but after I blasted everything out with the hose it made a major differance. On the highway doing about 60, on a 85 degree day the temp stays around 190. In traffic it takes much longer before it hits 210 and i turn on the fans. (Doing so brings the temp down to 185)
I posted some pictures (link below) of how it looked, and it seemed not so bad, but cleaning the radiator and condensor made a huge differance.
