Lead Hammers (for knockoffs)

Anyone know of a place that will refurbish them or is it cheaper to buy another?
I don't want to buy an original, I just need it to work with. Thanks.

I purchsed one from zip products,its NOT an original,but works just as well.I still have the original one that came with my car and some day when I get a chance I am going to try and smelt down some old plumbers lead and try and recast it,Untill then the replacement one will do,

I'd like to recast one too, all my lead is there it's just not where I need it.:L Zip wants $50 for one, someone else has to be be a lot cheaper.

I purchased a plastic sand-filled hammer from Harbor Freight for about $17.00. It seems to work well. Get the big one.My knock-offs had some scuffing and dings when I got the car, but I don't notice any new scratches or problems from the hammer...

If you want a REALLY good lead hammer, try Imperial Hammer in Rockford, Illinois; lead head cast on a steel shank on an aluminum handle, and when you finally beat it to death, you call them at 800-981-9400 and they'll re-cast it for you. The Harbor Freight 4# plastic-coated dead-blow hammer works well too.

I am with JohnZ, I have a plastic dead blow hammer that I keep in the car and use it all the time. I also have the lead hammer but it is just for looks.

They sell a big Martha that is lead and weighs 6 lbs, used for cobra knockoffs and will do any job we have.
