I think that she is dripping out transmission fluid. It's not oil, I know it's not. And it's definitely not engine coolant. How can I check the fluid and/or change it? I have a '78 4-speed. (M22?)

Manual trans gear lube is easy to spot - it really stinks! First, wipe down the transmission, then check it after a few miles so you know exactly where it's coming from (front of main case where it bolts to the bellhousing, shifter lever shafts, midplate/bearing retainer, output shaft/yoke, etc.) and let us know where the leak is.

Yeah it does stink... smells like a mixture of ear wax and dog poop.

Okay. I'll wipe her down and see what I come up with.

What?

Yeah it does stink... smells like a mixture of ear wax and dog poop.

Should I even ask how you got those two things together to make that comparison?

Smells like dog poop....
Feels like dog poop....
tastes like dog poop....

Sure glad I didn't step in it! ;LOL
