Funny, we where just talking about LED headlights today at work. Anyone know where you can find them for Corvettes. I have seem HID's for C4's but never LED's. Then again come to think of it I never really looked.

Why in the world where you on a PRIUS forum??? ;squint::puke

Haven't seen any square ones yet. Truck Lite makes 5 3/4 & 7 rounds.

not legal?

At a car show two weeks ago, I was told they are not legal headlights. I suspect this is a fluid situation as a short time ago they were only available int the 7" size.

Damn, I hate getting blinded by oncoming cars and it seems worse than ever.

The problem is that nobody seems to understand that headlights need to be aimed or know how to.
What really burns my eyes is people that don't know how to use the switch to turn off those fog lights when there is no fog.
I would love to find something to replace the fog lights on my 90 to a low beam headlight. The LEDs interest me.

As I understand it, the fog's (at least on my '88) have their ground routed through the headlight bulb. This prohibits the fog's from comming on with the high beams. However, rerouting the ground (to ground w/o the detour) will allow the fogs to be lit regardless of headlight use. I've done this and upped the wattage to 55 in the fogs. Hardly ever need to use the flip-ups. 'course I seldom drive at night and then only in the city. Somewhere in this forum there is a step by step on how to do the above.

Truck Lite brand are DOT approved as they are a major mfg. Off shore lights are a big problem.

Many states, Texas being one of them, no longer require aiming of headlights and it shows (pun intended). Was dropped due to consumer complaints about shops failing cars yearly safety inspections unless the headlights were aimed so shop greed made a good idea a bad one.

I also put in the 55 watt bulbs. The fog lights come on in the park light position. I drive mostly in the country and they are not bright enough in total darkness.
The headlights do cut mileage and effect handling slightly.
Besides that , it just looks better without them up. :L

D.O.T. approved
Good to know, if slightly late for my other project. I really like the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras; have them on my BMW R1100RS and in the under-lowbeamed 735iL.

Hell how many can even drive worth a s**t?

I think manufacturers should do as BMW did on our 745Li. The fogs MUST be switched on each time and cancel when the car is shut off, not when they burn out, as on most.

I rewired the '84's H/L switch, years ago; had a brief piece in a Vette mag on it: simple. The fogs still cancel on Hi Beam, b ut are now available w/o the headlights being on. I drive little at night too, and installed 55W fog bulbs; an improvement but they are aimed for fog; definitely not for non-city + non-fog.

This becomes largely academic for me when the Shinoda nose goes on.

My 2006 Grand Prix is set up that way. To have fog lights you have to turn them on. Shut ignition off and no fog lights.
