I've been lusting after a C4 convertible since they debuted, but they were always out of my price range. Today I drove one for the first time and discovered to my horror that there wasn't enough legroom. I'm 6'2". Maybe that's a bit on the tall side, but not really. Has anyone ever found a way to move the driver's seat any further back than the stock track allows? A few inches would make a world of difference, as I just can't see ever taking a long trip without being able to stretch my legs a bit more. Hell, even my 1990 Miata had more legroom to the pedals! Is my Corvette Dream over?

Well, I'm 6'2" as well and I always thought my 94 had enough leg room...marginal, but enough. You can't lay down, like most kids want to these days. I had to have the seat as far back as it would go.

My wife and I took our 94 on long trips and were very comfortable. One such trip, we left eastern Tennessee and drove all the way back to Kansas City in one day, almost 11 hours, with stops only to fill with gas and grab a bite to eat. Now I must say that my 94 was automatic, with the third pedal it might be different.

The C4 was designed for an" average" guy, 5'9". The engineers used old 1950's data when they started the design process and this was a miscalculation.

I know you said you fell in love with the C4 vert, but you may want to consider a C5 way more room both for passengers and luggage, and on top of that easier to get in and out of and generally superior to the C4 in most ways. They can be had for a reasonable prices too. As you can see from my name and profile picture, I have moved to the C5 and find that my seat is is forward from the farthest back position 2-3 inches.

Good luck with you search, but I would give up on a Corvette dream just yet. :w
