I read on the "Brand X" Corvette board that muffler eliminators cause a LOSS of horsepower, not a gain. Can anyone verify (explain) if this is true?

Low-end torque, however, may drop just a bit. You may or may not even notice it.
The reason for this 'drop' is because the torque peak has been moved up to a higher rpm, so you 'feel' a loss. There is no actual power lost, its just been moved.
