I am replacing the head gaskets and am wondering if I should replace the lifters as well?
The car has 180k and a slight tick, I think it is a sticking valve and am going to take care of those also, just wondering if the lifters are near the end of their life span.

Thanks

If the vehicle has 180k miles, then you may want to replace the springs more so than the lifters. After that many miles, I am sure the springs have had better days. If you have the money, the lifters would be a good idea, especially going to 1.6's.

Not going to 1.6 rr's, just want to fix a known problem and head off any potential problems.
Thanks, never even thought of the springs.

With that kind of miles on the engine, probably a lot of its parts are nearing their design life.

Since you've got the heads off, I'd suggest doing a "valve job". If you pick a reputable machine shop they'll replace any worn parts and reface the vaves and seats.

I'd also consider replacing the timing chain.

I am basically rebuilding the valve train and the front is next.

Money pit is right!! I started out basically rebuilding the valve train, figured I might as well do a cam, timing chain...then I discovered it wasnt the original engine....now the "new engine" has been bored, honed, decked along with the new heads, valves...yada yada yada!.
