After a month of garage, I had the joy of starting and driving my 85 up last night. Like a rocket. Instant response and seat of the pants feel is a significant HP boost. Here's the list of what I did:

Vortex Air Rammer- Put your hand by the intake and feel the air get sucked in!!!!
AC Delco Rapid Fires gapped at .050- Awsome
Tayor 8mm High Performace wires
160 deg stat
Ed Wright Custom Fastchip
TB Air Foil
Updated to an 86 exhuast system with a Walker Free Flow Cat and a MagnaFlow SS system. Quiet most of the time, right noise when it counts.

I also cleaned the entire engine and stripped and repainted my orginal valve covers. I will post a pick soon. I also cleaned and fixed every little knob and handle in the interior.

Over the winter I want to do some porting, maybe add some TPIS Big Mouth Runners, Air Elim. and some March undersize pullies. Also looking for other ideas.

I want to thank Mart and Mic and all the others for all their advise and help in this project. :upthumbs I have got to go and do some more driving.:Steer

Awesome. I too felt a seat of the pants difference when I installed Ram Air, not so much the air foil though. I would be out driving too, but this darn rain. It never fails here in Indiana.

Striker,

There are other manufacturers that make bigger runners that cost less than the TPIS runners. SLP makes a set of runners that a lot of people like, Edelbrock makes runners. Arizona Speed and Marine also makes runners that people have said good things about. If I recall correctly, all of those runners cost less than the TPIS runners.

Am I saying that you should get them just because they're cheaper? No. I looked into going with a TPIS Big Mouth intake, but Phil on the forum said that I should look into Edelbrock. He said that Edelbrock makes the intake for TPIS and TPIS just marks it up to resell. Some people on Thirdgen said the same thing. I think the intake was ~50 cheaper for the Edelbrock.

Summit Racing carries the Edelbrock for our TPI cars. Just go to their site www.summitracing.com and look under the intake manifolds.

They have a package with the runners and the intake for ~$730 or so. You can use a dremel to port the plenum. Go with some 1.6rr for a little more lift and you'll feel a nice increase.
