little lock on MT shifter plate?

I am not aware of anything like that. What is the year?

Could it be an after market alarm of some type?

1974 L82 corvette coupe. It has a 4 speed manual.There is a little locking device on the console, right above the plate that states the engine/hp/compression. Looks like a circle key thast turns about 15 degrees in either direction

That is deffently not stock. My guess is alarm. Guess you would have to search the car to ID the alarm and then contact the manfacture. Or take the car to a VERY good locksmith.

That's a type of lock usually used on PC's, wanna bet it's wired to the clutch safety switch or something as an anti theft device
