Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

little problems........

Yes stock heads, and the cam was in such great shape they used it over.

Vettefan87,

I've heard that the rollers are usually a little noisy, nothing to worry about but anyway, even if you don't do the mechanic's in the vette is a nice investment to buy one of those mechanic stethoscopes in Sears to locate wird noices. (incredible how well they work to locate any noise!)

I hope it's nothing serious, keep us posted! :w

Well after driving back from out lake cottage, I could hear the lifters hitting when accelerated, and when driving around 40ish in OD next to a car or a wall or something. What causes a lifter to make noise anyway?

Being these are hydraulic roller lifters, I'm wondering if they primed the lifters prior to reinserting them. If they didn't, you'll never get all the air out. Plus If they didn't adjust them properly when the rockers were installed, you've got wayy tooo much play in the valve system. They should have rechecked the rockers after the engine was warmed up!

I've learned a few things in life, one is: "Driving and listening, next to a "wall", you'll get everything twice as loud and it really get's the hairs on the back of the neck standing on end...."

Lots of Luck with the garage.....

I guess what makes this so damn frustrating is the motor has been rebuilt twice, and both times it came back with noisy lifters. My car has way more miles on it and doesn't have lifter noise. I have heard the car from the time we first started it at the shop and yes it is lifter chatter. I would explain it as a chatter. As far as the trouble codes, I kind of think the EGR is bogus. It never threw codes before the second engine rebuild. We have a good relationship with Manns corvette shop so they should give it to us straight.

Yea, I'm not sure what's going on. Will the lifters making noise hurt the car, should I not drive it unless I absolutely have to?
