Im try'n to find some relays. Under the hood right below the wiper motor housing there are 2 relays. One is for the fuel pump right? Whats the other for? I am try'n to find the 4+3 OverDrive relay. And is there anyway to test them? I have a meter but not sure what I would have to do for a relay.

thank you

The one that is mounted on the same bracket as the fuel pump is the relay for the 4+3 overdrive unit. It is an identical relay with the same part number. I only discovered it by accident one day while researching a fuel problem; there was no direct reference to it in the Helm manual, but I didn't look in the Haynes or Chiltons books.

Good luck; I wasn't able to get much help when I was running the 4+3 - spent over three grand with various "technicians" who could not diagnose the problem, which was the fact that it wouldn't stay in overdrive.

After installation of a remanufactured overdrive unit, the shop install an incorrect O-ring in the speedometer drive and I lost all fluid, thereby burning up the new overdrive. It wasn't until after this that I discovered the relay. I'll bet it was a twelve dollar relay in the end that cost me over three grand. :hb

Yeah these OD units are terrible. I have never had so many problems with one thing before in my life. It's no wonder Doug lost his contract with GM. I just tried switching the the relays, didn't work. But the car still started up, so i guess its not the relay. I think it maybe this pressure switch thing in the valve body. I broke the switch, but glued it back together. I'll bet that is why it isn't working. Funny though all it is, is a liitle black plastic can with a metal lid and a hole. I glued the lid back on, but maybe it isn't air tight no more.

I drove the car to work the other day, interstate I-10 75 mph was runn'n at about 4500 rpm's in 4th gear. DEF not good. If only i had more money i'd buy a 6 speed. what can ya do
