1999 Convertable
I have a strange one here. My FOBs stopped working (yes, I checked the batteries) and I brought it to the dealer. I was told the Keyless Entry Receiver was bad and the replacement part was $400plus.
I left without replacing it to think about it. When I got home, I remembered that the receiver also worked the tire pressure indicators and they work fine. I was told that the location was inside the trunk up under the deck. It can't be because all I have is a trunk lid and the hatch for the convertable.
Any suggestions?
thanks,

I find it strange that both doors don't unlock with the fobs. Since both fobs don't work to unlock-lock your Corvette, I believe that the problem is in the lock-unlock mechanisms. Do you hear a clicking sound when using the fobs? If you do, then it is more than likely the receiver. They operate independently, that is, there is receiver for the dirver side and passenger side doors. The receivers as well as the actuators are located inside the doors. I had the fobs (2) not work on both my 02 coupe and 02 Z06 driver side doors in 2010. Removed the door trim, unscrewed the receivers, replaced them with new OEMs receivers and they worked fine. Unfortunately the receivers are expensive. I paid around $360 each with my Corvette Club discount at the dealer sponsor. Can get them new on e-bay and used also, but I would not purchase used ones. This is a common problem with the C5s and some dealers and repair shops believe it is the actuators, but it is really the receivers. Very easy job to replace, but costly if you take to a dealer. I still find it strange that both doors fail to unlock with the fobs, therefore I suggest that you purchase the drivers side receiver first, and if the fobs work, then purchase the passenger side. I know this sounds like a parts swap fix, but this is the way it is done. You can check your FSM to diagnose the problem. The DIC does not throw actual codes on this problem. Hope this helps.
