Locked drivers door 1977 vette

1977 VETTE DRIVERS DOOR LOCK SHUT: Does anyone know how to get the drivers door open when it is locked shut. I have taken the panel off the passenger door and exspossed the working of the lock. On the drives door (which is currently locked) I have managed to parsley pry the door panel off enough to cut away the plastic shroud to expose the lock mechanisim. I have managed to press down the lock cam which should open (as does the passenger door) but still no joy. It appears my only option is to use a small die grinder and cut away the lock off the door pin in order to push the door open. Please help

Was it working prior to the door locking???
Is the window down or can you get it down...if the window is down you can look inside the door and try to figure out what is not working properly... and perhaps pop the door opening with a long slim screwdriver so you don't have to destroy the doorup:
