Oh No Way, GM is WAY to conservitive a Company to give us something with that much styling.

That car was built by a company called Avelate. You can have that conversion done for about $25,000.

definately a worthy and good looking modification to the corvette

I HATE TO SAY IT,BUT NO ONE THINKS IT LOOKS LIKE A IMPORT
WANNA BE. JUST MY THOUGHT :r

If i was going to spend 25,000 on a conversion it would be the Retro 53-03:birth tribute to the 50th which is better than the GM model. I agree it looks like an import wanna be but some of the ques could be looked at by GM.;)

It has influences from at least 3 different cars that i can see .... I has the c3 lines, but almost looks like a saleen s7, and the batmobile :crazy

The rear body panels look too far off the ground, if they somehow lowered the back end styling down I would dig the rear end a lot more. The front is definitly a head turner, but I am mixed about the combined styling cues..

IMHO of course...

Not sure if that is still true or not. It appears they may no longer be in business. They no longer own the web site they had registered at www.avelate.com, and there don't seem to be any new links.

Thats bad A$$ but the windshield is so small it looks like you would have to have the top off to drive it.. or maybe it was just the one pic I looked at just appeared that way..

The sides bring up visions of the Hyundai Tiburon from the late 90's. Always reminded me of a funky Nike running shoe.

I wasn't too thrilled with the wheels either.

I did like certain other styling elements though. It definitely had connections to the Vette family.

Personally, I'm not ready to see the C5 go. For crying out loud, the C4 was around for how long??????? Couldn't they have done a C5.5?

I don't take change well. I hated the C5 when they came out, until I saw one in person and then everything was okay again.

krex725........I'm with you.I don't take change all that well either.I liked the c4 s then they put in the square lights......that's when I decided I had to have one.my 1992 had the zr1 look that I liked and they put in the lt1.It was perfect. Now I'm finally ready to accept the c5 and they change it.But if they put in more ponies and it differs slightly from the c5,there is a good chance I'll bite.

I would say that insiders in GM/Chevrolet Division should begin thinking the way they did back in 1952/53. The Corvette was a radical departure from the "family car" designs that they were turning out. Without that type of thinking, we wouldn't have the Corvette today. The potential that is available within the Corvette design and engineering department should again be showcased in the current and future generations. Don't hold back, go for the gusto and see how well it's recieved.

Without a superstar / powerhouse designer like Bill Mitchell in place, you will only see evolutionary designs from GM unless market pressures force Reactionary designs. There may some exceptions here and there, but not on a low volume, all or nothing line like Corvette.

They can affort a design mistake in a cavalier, the sunbird will pickup the difference in sales and modications can be made at Year End. But the vette with its is low volume is a buy it or it dies situation. The risks are high. A few of you might want to see a radical redesign like that little blue pointy job, but if enough people don't like it, it could be the death knell for the Vette.

I still really like the Stingray III Concept Corvette:

Combine that, with this:

....and I bet the result would be a sure-fire winner. :D

Rob,

I like the Sing Ray III too. I saw it at the Vette display at LaGuna Seca last year. It looks very nice in person. However, I think Luts would have vetoed the headlights as being too close to the '03 viper's. The Mako Shark II concept was converted to the Manta Ray a couple of years after this pic. The Manta Ray was also on display at LGS. My favorite was the original '61 StingRay race car. Awesome looking.
