Went to my local dealer to look at the new C6. Great looking car but the dealer had an additional window sticker for $5000.00 ADM, bring the total to over $57000 for a $43500 coupe with a bunch of add-ons, none of which were the performance suspension. I'll keep my '93 and continue to enjoy it.

Just wait a year - someone will have bought one, can't afford the payments, will have to sell it at a drastically reduced price and you will still have essentially a new C6 saving yourself a buttload of mula! :_rock

really? I talked to a GM rep. about a week ago and he said there weren't any dealers(around here) that had C6's b/c EVERY C6 that has rolled off the assembly line so far has already been bought and paid for in full by some lucky fellow. he also told me 318 were sold before a sketch was every released....now thats faith in the corvette name

The tour guides at the assembly plant will tell you that every Corvette is a sold order - seeming to imply that a customer has ordered them. What they really mean is that every Corvette is sold to a dealer or a customer and that GM/Chevy does not build Corvettes in excess of what the dealers order. That way GM/Chevy does not have to push dealers to take Corvettes they don't want like they do with Caveliers and Malibus.

Wait a while, before the end of the 2005 model year, all the suckers that just have to have the first C6 on the block will have been licked by the dealers and the dealers will start talking deals on the C6. The old supply and demand thing at work and the dealers are going to milk it while they can.

I just got back from a visit and Courtesy Chevrolet out here (supposedly the largest Corvette dealer in CA - certainly top 2, anyway. . . ) has three on the lot. They've sold 4 from their first shipment of 7 with the remaining 3 in the showroom.

They had a black auto and a white 6 speed for 10K over MSRP (but they were "taking offers" so in theory you could cut into their gouge.)

They also had one of the Precision Red cars (supposedly only 400 produced) for 20K over sticker.

I told the salesman that he was out of his mind but around here someone is bound to pay that for a car that'll be unique for a month or two.

I can't justify another 2 seater with the kiddies, but someday a new Z06 (or equivalent) is going to happen. . . :D

i had my grand sport stripes put on last week at the local trim/tint shop and they said the day before i was there they had a man bring in a C6 that he had bought in tampa for $52k. the funny side of the story is that the fellow who bought it was 72 years old and could barely get out of it!

A guy I work with just got his C6 for $48K. But there was some kind of a deal: He sold the dealer his C5 a few months ago at a 'good' price.

BTW, he said he wasted his money: because the girls [that he is constantly trying to pick up] don't know the years of the Corvettes.

Kurt Mietz of Anderson Chevrolet in Menlo Park, Ca invited our club, Santa Clara Corvettes, to test drive one. Nice running car, they are pretty much sold as they are delivered for now, but that should clear up in a month or so. We also had one (the same one) at our "Corvette Spectacular" car show in downtown Los Altos this past Sunday. He gave test drives there as well.

Heya Gary,

I didn't hear about the test drives (maybe it wasn't in the newsletter) and I did miss Spectacular this year. . .

Hopefully I'll get to drive one soon.

How did you like it?

Hi Erick, You would have had to be at the monthly meeting to know about it. Kurt gave us an invitation for the following Thursday, for "club only" test drives. The car drove very well, you can feel the power. Drastic difference in handleing compared to a C4, but not so different than a C5. It was comfortable, and has quite a bit more room than my C3, or C4. Call Kurt, I'm sure he can arrange a test drive for you, providing he has a car in stock. They held off selling the one we were test driving untill after Sectaculor, so they may not have one. They had 2 identical cars last week. Silver coupes.

I drove to the bay area last sunday to look and sit in a C6, I liked the feel of it, lots more foot room than the C4, BUT I think it would be a pain to keep finger prints off when you close the doors.
