I've been looking at ordering some parts for the corvette and wondering where you guys get the necessary GM part number. I have the Helms manuals, but they just list the description in the breakdown. Is there a way to look up the part number in the manuals or online?

Steel Half-Shafts...Is that CD searchable using the "find" button in Acrobat Reader? I have a simuler CD put out by someone else and I found it is not searchable.

Depending on how the PDF was created you may not be able to search. I the PDF was created from scans of an original manual then the text is not searchable as the page is treated as a picture. If the PDF was created from a text document, such as Word or Framemaker, then the text is kept intact and can be searchable.

This CD has these listed sub sections and also "thumbnails" of each page & "bookmarks" listed by GM "Group #'s".
I'm not sure on the "search" function, as I go by Group then pull up the picture and find the part, then part #.
I think the PDF was created from scans of an original manual.

Listed in 16 different sub sections such as:

Engine - Clutch
Cooling - Hoses
Starter motor - Wiring
Fuel supply - Ignition
Brakes - Exhaust
Transmission
Drive train
Interior
Glass
Exhaust
Emissions
There are almost 1500 pages in total.

I find it very easy to find the right GM "Group" then "sub -group" such as "Engine, Cooling etc. Just click on the Group your interested in and it pop's-up.
I find it much easier to use than the last "paper" GM parts book I have. Also. you can zoom-up any page for a more detailed look and also print it out .
I have the CD for the ZR-1's and have found it to be a very valuable tool! :dance
