I wonder what the rear paint cost would be? Stripes are around $180.00, then if one replaces the badges? Wheels? It is still looking good though.

I like it when the lower rear facia is painted, and the stripes rock. But I really don't like it when the whole ass is painted black. Just my opinion. Other then that the car looks mean as hell.

Actually, I tend to agree more with what you envision.

Agreed, the whole back end in black just doesn't look right. Beyond that, the car looks awesome, well, except for the antenna. Why don't the Z06, hardtops and verts have the windshield antenna like the coupe?

There is a silver Z in my area with the lower fascia painted and it really looks awesome, I'm going to ask him where and how much the next time I see him.

Maybe you can grab a photo

I'll see what I can do, I have run into him the last two Tuesday nights up in Solon (Ohio) at a cruise in, so I'm sure I'll see him up there again. This isn't his car, it's not a Z, and it isn't the best quality, but it works (thanks Google): http://www.jenalabs.com/pages/C5.html

The radio antenna for coupes is in the back window. It is the grid looking thing at the top of the window. It looks a bit like the rear defroster which runs lower across the window. That explains why verts have an aerial antenna. As for the Z06 and hardtops I would suspect that the window angle has something to do with them having an aerial as well.

I like that look. Someone sells a kit to black out the lower valance for those who don't want to commit to painting. I've thought of doing a blackout theme on my pewter coupe - stripes, halo bar, rear valance panal, the inset for the taillights (like the 82 CE has) and the CORVETTE letters on the rear. The halo bar is a big leap though and I haven't gotten the courage yet (or $$$:eyerole).

Though both look good, I think I like the total rear black-out on the yellow Vette best. And I've always liked the combination black and chrome rims.

Just my 2 cents.

Howard - can you post side photos of the Z so I could get a better looksee at those rims?

If you have to have an antenna I've always been partial to the short black rubber sports antenna.

We're both right, and wrong ;)

I had to go check, because I know it's in the windshield. It's actually a two piece, one part in the windshield, one part in the rear window.

Maybe the addition of some chrome letters on the big black rear end might just break it up just enough, still a nice looking ride. hands
