Very sad if true. Any reports of the LS7's burning any oil yet?

That sounds very concerning:ugh , what has GM told you?

I just turned 12,500 and I have not had any problems at all.

Mine has 6,500 miles, not a drop used that I can tell.

I did hear about one that had excessive consumption. The dealer finally did leakdown test. They found one cylinder out of spec, did a tear down, found the ring gaps were lined up. They honed cylinder, reassembled with new rings, supposedly no more leakdown or excessive consumption. Kinda invasive to have to go through for a brand new car, though.:ugh

Oil Consumption

I just returned from a 6K cross country trip with my C6 and only used 1/2qt of oil driving 70/80mph and oil temp. staying at 230F most of the time at that speed. This is the only time I have added oil to the engine between oil changes which I do at 5K regardless of what the oil life monitor says. Present mileage on car is 23k+
