Guys and Gals, this is real bummer

I think my crank bolt may have come loose Friday. When I started it up it had an abnormal clicking sound so I popped the hood and I didn’t see anything amiss, I turned on the A/C and the sound went away so I left. I drove about 50 miles with 2 stops, then the sound came back and within a mile it went from the clicking to a hard knocking. Luckily it happened right as I was getting home or I would have had to use Onstar. Upon further inspection I noticed the outer serpentine belt was coming apart at the edge. The inner serpentine belt has been chewed and about 1/3 of its normal width is gone. I have read some of the earlier posts on this problem; I didn’t have any instrument indications out of the ordinary I didn’t lose oil pressure or get any lights. I think I may have caught it before it got terminal but I am not sure. I have pictures of the belts. I only have 1028 miles on the car, it was built in November the last 3 of the VIN are 443. I cannot tell if the knock is a rod or from the front of the engine maybe an accessory pully , it is RPM sensitive. I will be on the dealers doorstep in the morning, my major concern is if the engine is shot what are my options? I don’t want a replacement engine, if it’s just a tensioner or something external no problem. My specific questions are;

1. Does anyone have the list of VIN’s affected?
2. Has anyone had GM either replace they’re car for this problem or buy it back? (Dealer input welcome)
3. is there a process to do this other than the lemon law? Do I need a lawyer?

Remember rule #1...Don't Panic.

It happens. They'll fix it good as new.

Thanks for the inputs. They ordered the pulley and the bolt kit, hopefully I will only be down for a week or so.

Just had to have mine replaced. Shredded the drive belt. What a hassle.

I believe the cars in the 0 to 11039 VIN numbers are the ones to watch. (The last 5 digits of your VIN). Lucky me, my vin is 10362. All cars have not been affected, so keep your fingers crossed if you're in that range with no problem.
And of course, drive it like it's stolen.
