Again, as I go through this car - it makes me want to strangle the PO --- but it is my car now and I must deal with it. :)

(my disclaimer above) ;stupid

In any case, the driver's side window and door panel is loose.
Even when I tighten up the door panel the window is still loose mostly the fore side near the driver's side mirror. What should I be looking for fixing this? BTW, the window moves up and down much slower than the passenger side. Obviously these are related but I need some help with the culprit in this case.
Thanks so much.

Since mine is a 1980.... when i take the door panel off, there are windowanti-raddle pads that hold the window straight and keep it from moving or wobbling , now if these window pads are worn out the window will wobble and rattle. you can buy these window anti-raddle pads from ecklers, corvette america, etc. they are heldon the door by a screw , easy install. hope this helps?

After I replaced the door panel in my 86, I noticed the window was much more sluggish and rattled a bit when partly open. The pads (there are two, though space for three) were lower than they should have been, so I adjusted the angle and the window is quieter. However, the sluggishness is still there - only when the door is closed. If I raise the window with it open, it's faster than the passenger side. I surmise that the rubber strip around the window area is pushing against the window when the door's closed. That or the strip at the base of the window on the outside of the door.

What's more annoying for me is that if the window is up, the door doesn't close easily. With it down, closes great. Up, tends to stop at the partially-latched position unless I keep firm pressure on the door until completely closed.

don't raise the window to the very top, just before and that will stop the door closing problem.

I shall try that; I usually leave them all the way down in the garage but all the way up when out and about. The passenger side has no such problem, btw.
