Hi,

My side windows are loose and sloppy everywhere but in the the fully rolled up position. They are tight there. But roll them down an inch or two and sloppy as heck. They even rattle when you close the door with them down. Is this normal?

Thanks for your help.

Heck no it's not normal. Why don't you invest in a window repair kit. It's not that hard to do and it will make your car feel like new again.

You'll have to pull your door panels to check. Either your anti-rattle cushions are loose and need adjusted or they are worn and need replaced. $25-30 for a set of four.

Oh, and the anti rattle cushions are tight when the window is fully rolled up but are are loose when rolled down a few inches. The screws holding the glass to the mechanism are tight but the mechanism itself seems loose.

window rattle

Ive got a 89 coupe that if the windows are down afew inches and you close the door, it sounds like they are ready to break!! (drivers side anyway) Scary to say the least! lol! Thanks for the info on the cusions, have to pull the door panels soon as if ever the weather permits! Everything is soild when they are up. tx.Doug Castner,NY.

my passenger side rattles like crazy in most positions except closed or 2/3 down. my neighbor slammed it shut last month by pushing the glass instead of the door. now it is worse.
i'm a bit nervous about removing the door-panel but i am very interested in this kit the folks are talkin about. i know my pads are gone because it is starting to scratch my tinting. i'll post after the repair...now i'm off to corvette central to find that kit.
