Hi All,
Maybe someone out there can help. One of my keys to my 2000 C5 was stolen. I was told that I need to change my door locks and steering column tumbler to prevent theft and that there was no way to just change the computer code for the chip in the key. Was I misinformed or is this correct? Id really rather not tear apart the doors and steering column.
Thanks in advance.....
Anthony

Hi there,
No, this is incorrect.
All you have to do, to change the value of your Passkey system, is to install a new BCM, and purchase 2 new keys.
While the key codes will change, the actual keys will be the same.
Each key is about $26 and the BCM is about $300 and it will take about 2 hours to do.

Thanks dude for the info.....
I thought it was weird when I was told it wasnt possible. I heard it from a guy who "supposedly" works at a GM dealership. I have to look into it further.......
Thanks again.....
