Loud rear 'knocking' noise

When ever I go over a bump in the road, whether it be big or small, I hear a loud knocking noise coming from the rear of the car! I have tried everything, and cannot find the problem anywhere!!

Has anyone else had this problem??

Whatever you do, do not try what he backwoods mechanic did; he crawled under the truck and had the driver drive the truck down the road while he tried to listen for a noise. They had to unwrap his corpse from the driveshaft. :eyerole

You do not really specify if the noise to which you refer is emanating from within the vehicle or from without of the vehicle. If it is from the inside, does it come from the front or rear. If it is from the outside, is it from the front or rear, or from under the vehicle? Does it sound like it might be coming from a wheel? A suspension part or assembly?

Try to be more specific.

Have you checked your spare tire? The one on your car, I mean. Sometimes if it isn't secured properly, the jack and the tire will wiggle loose and clunk around.
