Low Fuel Warning/Fuel guage dropped to E

I got a fillup on the way home. 5 miles down the road I noticed the guage was just above 3/4 and figured that the pump had shut off prematurely and didn't completely fill. I thought this was odd since it hadn't ever happened before. Well, about ten miles later the low fuel warning came on, I looked down and the guage was on dead empty!

I reset the warning, re-started a couple of times and it stayed on E! The fuel range reads blank.

Help.

Get a couple bottles of Chevron Techtron fuel injector cleaner and dump them in the tank and drive it around a little to mix it up!!It'll probly start working in a bit!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Thanks gmjunkie!

I remember a discussion about the Techtron®, are there two kinds? Wasn't this a solution to a guage that got stuck above empty, would a rapidly plummeting gauge be symptomatic of the same thing? Could this also be the sulfur build up on the board/sensor?

Maybe Sulfur,Maybe Moisture!;shrug;shrug;shrugI use Chevron gas in my car around here and have No Problems, but when I go on a trip and can't find it or Texaco and use other brands my gauge does the same thing yours is doing!! Especially if I have to use gas with methanol in it,it'll quit working on the 1st or 2nd tank every time!!But the Techtron has fixed it every time with in 20-50 miles!!:thumbI keep 2-3 bottles in the rear compartment of my car, just so I don't have to try to run some down on a trip!!:thumb :beer

The Techtron® worked like a champ! A couple of jogs down the road after I added it and the fuel guage came right back. Muito obrigado gmjunkie!

They closed a Chevron that I used to use by my old house and now, since we've moved, there's one within 2 miles of my new home.

I believe in Chevron!
