Hi!
I´m planning on lowering my -92 Coupe about an inch. Do any of you guys have any suggestions in where to buy the best lowering kit? Mid America and Ecklers both have lowering-kits, are they any good or does anyone have other suggestions?

Regards Micke

Micke,

I would think both kit are the same, if not no real differences

I have the lowering wedges in the front and bolts in the rear. I installed a new spring at the same time so it is still settling does not seem much lower yet

HI Mike, I also installed the kit I got from Mid-America. The front will take some time but the back is no problem. For some reason, the front ride height looked great but the rear was sitting higher than I wanted even after I put the new bolts on. I ended up having even longer rear spring bolts custom made and now the car sits perfect in the back. I'm happy with the look now.

hey Micke,
i had an 89 that i lowered,i first installed the wedges from ecklers,on sale at the time.i ended up pulling out the wedges and dropping the rear to match.Da Hawaiian Punches car is the same way.looks sweet like that.get some adjustable shocks, set them on firm and it helps the rear at the drag strip too.:D later,Todd.

Aloha!
Thanks guys! Your cars all look great!
That´s the look i´m going for!
By the way: It was actually in Hawaii i got the chance to drive the C4 for the first time. I rented a -94 convertible, and i was hooked from that day! I bought my -92 3 years ago. It´s imported from California and the paintjob is faded, so right now it´s in the paintshop. I´m having it repainted in it´s original yellow colour with a coat of gold-pearl on top. It´ll be ready in a week, i can´t wait!

Cool!! Post the pictures when your pau!!(finished)

hey there,
that should look very nice, when you were in hawaii, did you rent from Exotic Car Rentals?they have some pretty cherry rides there.both the c4s above are lowered in the front WITHOUT using wedges.they handle like go-carts that low.i am mentioning things so if you decide to go that low save your money from the wedges, make sure the rear bolts are grade 8.;) yes those cars had some epic duels.i have a drawer full of time slips against that grand-prix,there piling up against the c4 also.thats a pretty good picture/angle of my old car,did you scan that?not bad.later,Todd.

so how did you lower the front with out the wedges?
This is a thread that I had responded to a few months ago for another forum member.
I copied and pasted it here so I dont have to write the whole thing again:

It's so easy to do! Infact, the hardest thing to do is to cut the rubber off the spring.. that stuff on there is tuff!!
Unbolt the outer tie rod & sway bar, on both sides, losen the spring retainers which is holding the leaf spring to the frame of the car.
On either side that you what to start on first, get a block of wood ( 2 by 4 ) and a small floor jack will be fine, put the wood along with the jack under the spring closest to the a-arm, with out it being ON the a-arm it's self and slowly jack the spring up untill it's not resting on the lower a-arm ( about a 1/4 to an 1/2 inch off ) Disconect the ABS sensor thats located on the brake assembly, thats very important for you to do so!! ( if yours has one) remove the 2 bolts that are holding the shocks to the lower a-arm (they're located near the spring in the lower a-arm), unbolt the lower ball joint stud nut, you can use a two jaw puller or what I did was unscrew the nut untill it covered the end of the stud and with a hammer, tap on the top of the nut and not that hard or you'll ruin either the nut it's self or the stud or both. (try using a hard rubber mallet first)
Before doing this, find something to put under the wheel hub.. another block of wood would be fine just to stabilize it and it should come free with no problem!!
repeat this on the other side and let the presure off from the 2 by 4 and jack free and you should be able to slide the spring out from either side after you pull back at the wheel hub away little, the spring will slide out from the lower a-arm.
It will not come out all the way if the car is not jacked up high enough and it does not have to!! you just need to be able to slide the spring far enough to be able to reach the rubber mounts.
With a steak knife or I prefered a hack saw blade, saw off the rubber mounts and try not to cut into the spring it's self... take your time, don't rush!!.
Do this on both sides.
(Helpfull hint: while cutting the rubber off, lift up on the side that you started cutting at, at the same time you cutting away, the reason is that if you dont do this, the rubber will grab onto the knife/sawblade and you'll make very slow progress if any at all. The first side that I did without doing this took me about an hr and a half to cut, untill I lifted the rubber up off the sliding blade, the othe side took 10 min to complete the job, big difference.)
This will give you the drop that your, I think looking for!!!
The wheels will be, depending on what size rims you've got, if your running stock 17's will be about an 1 inch to an 1 1/4 from the fender wells, and NO!! THEY WILL NOT RUB!!
You will have to of course hopefully with out saying, take the wheels off to do this job, and the ride is fine, just a little more stiff, and I do mean, A LITTLE!!
I hope this helps Aloha.

Hi!
My front end is pretty o.k i think,i don´t have to do any adjustments there. But the rear looks like i have a couple of hijackers on! So i think i´ll get me some longer springbolts!
You guys have been very helpful!
Todd, you asked if there are a lot of Corvettes in Sweden, i think we have maybe 2000 Corvettes or so. I would think that 99% are driven only in the summer season.

Oh, and i got my Corvette back from the paintshop today. It´s paintde in original yellow with red pearl on top. It maight sound a likttle wierd, but it looks great!

Regards from Sweden!
