Anyone know why the LT-4 has a blocked EGR port? I was having an idle stumble on my 96 LT-1 and pulled off the EGR vacuum line. Now it idles fine but can I keep it this way? I put a plug in the vacuum line but have thought about removing the EGR completely and puttting a blocking plate in. Thanks,

EGR

:( :( HI The egr stands for Exhaust Gas Recurulation and it had apperantly stuck in the partially open position leaning out the mixture causing rough idle. The lt4 doesnt need it because it has a cam with enough overlap to acomplish the same effect. Running yours with it disabled will cause problems eventully. bob

I appreciate the help...Terry

EGR is for emissions... I don't see how running the car without it would cause a problem (assuming everything has been blocked off to make sure no dirt will go into the engine). On the flip side, if you want to fix it, all you will probably need is a new EGR valve, so it isn't that hard of a fix.
