Has anyone seen a drag between the a lt-4 and a Zr-1 or Z06, I am assuming a stock lt-4 woud loose the battle, but curious how badly. This thread should lead to some interesting responses, thanks

Actually I think you are right about the LT4. As to how badly it would lose I really don't know. Some others would have to answer that and I would be interested to see what they say. But, I am sure I speak for all LT4 owners when I say I am honoured just to be mentioned in the same sentence as a ZR-1 and a Z06.novafink said:Has anyone seen a drag between the a lt-4 and a Zr-1 or Z06, I am assuming a stock lt-4 woud loose the battle, but curious how badly. The 405 HP LT5 came out in 93. I agree with the rest of what you said except the LT4 engine will probably hang closer than most woulfd expect. That was a nice revving engine and had plenty of low RPM TQ to get it all moving. Unfortunately, it was wrapped in a 3500 lb car.JJS said:I guess it would depend on what year the ZR-1 is. The '90-'93 ZR-1's had 375 hp, I believe, where the '94,'95's had 405hp. I'd guess that a '94 or '95 ZR-1 would give the Z06 a go, but I don't see the LT-4 sticking with either one. This is of course taking into consideration that these cars are completely stock....no mods.
This is just my opinion, and I have been known to be wrong before!![]()
True vettepilot. By the way, the Black Book shows the coupe weight in 1996 at 3298 pounds. Not that that is a big difference from 3500 lbs, but the 1996 coupe I think then is about 80 pounds heavier than your Z06...which is not a huge difference and maybe that is one reason why it does hang only a little back but as you say closer than you would expect. I agree with the other reason of plenty of low RPM Torque. I am not sure if the black book weight is for the coupe with the LT1 or LT4, but maybe they weigh the same, though the LT1 is auto and the LT4 is with the 6 speed and that could make a difference.vettepilot said:The 405 HP LT5 came out in 93. Roadster Guy said:when you compare the performance differences, the LT4 in 1996 at about a $1600 option was a bargain when you think of the upgrade price for a ZR-1 or a Z06. Ok, sure, with the ZR-1 and the Z06 there was more to the package than just the engine, but man, the ZR-1 was about $25,000 more than the coupe and a Z06 $6000 more (I could be off on these figure as my Black Book is not with me ) so the LT4 was a pretty reasonable option
