Hello to you all,

I usually stay on the other side of this forum. But I need some info about the c5 le mans racer.

What I wanted to know is, what kind of engine is placed in that racer. I have heard that it bare block is a Lt1 small block, but better made, so it will last longer. Is this true?

I have a c4 myself, and I want to use that engine for my vette. Do I ask a strange question?

John

Here's the difference between a production C5 and the C5-R

2000 C5 production

LS1 Pushrod V8 with aluminum block and heads
3.90" x 3.62"/5.67 liters (346 cid)
Electronic Sequential Fuel Injection
Distributorless - one coil per cylinder
Two pushrod-operated valves per cylinder
10.1:1
345 @ 5600 RPM
350 @ 4400 RPM

C5-R

LS1 Pushrod V8 with aluminum block and heads
4.125" x 3.42"/5.98 liters (365 cid)
Electronic Sequential Fuel Injection
GEN III Delphi
Modified stock cam; aftermarket rocker arms
12.5:1
600 @ 7200 RPM
495 @ 5600 RPM

It uses a regular production block right off of the assembly line

Thanks,

can I use it for my vette? And use my aluminum heads?

Are you asking if you can use a 2000 LS1 motor in your 86.
not sure what heads to are talking about :confused

Is that engine the same as my L98? So I can use my Edelbrock Performer heads, with I use now?

Can I see some pictures of your vette?

Z07 with revalved FX3 Bilstein shocks, can't comment on the turbo, hence the name supernatural. they stopped turbo's after 91

The 2000 C5-R spec's can be found at C5 Motorsports.com. The Motor is an LS1 based all aluminum 427cid motor with 620hp @ 6400rpm and 495lb/ft @ 5200rpm.

Supernatural's spec's are for the '99 C5-R.:)

As for putting an LS1 motor in a C4, from what I've been told it's pretty much not going to happen. The L98 is a second gen small block, and the LS1 is a third gen small block. The dimentions, motor mounts, clearances... they are all totally diffrent from the L98 or even the LT1/LT4 motors.
