I just replace the starter on my 96 LT1, the Solenoid contacts were nearly burned through, the car only has 57,000 miles on it, is that normal? most other GM cars I have had never needed starters, even after 100,000 plus miles. I repaired my old starter ($9.96 for contacts from Iowa Motor Parts) and sold it, so the whole job cost me $35.00.

Mine died at 96,000 miles when I began getting an intermittent no crank condition.

I don't know whether this is normal or not.

Starter Problems

Did you fix your starter or replace it? The photo of your car, what is going on there?

I bought a new starter with a life-time warranty.

The photo shows me installing a new engine I built about a year ago. Most of the specs are listed below.
