LT4 LT4 Clicking Noise

When I started my LT4 this afternoon I heard a loud clicking noise in the engine bay. I used a stethoscope to listen to the engine, AC compressor, alternater and etc., they were all quiet. The noise seemed to be coming from in front of the engine. All the guages read normal. I shut the engine off, several hours later I started the engine again. I could only hear a faint clicking noise. I took the car for a drive, it ran great, the clicking noise disappeared. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should be looking for? I hate to take it to a shop if
it isn't making the noise. The car has 30,000 miles on it. The water pump and optispark were changed at 15,000
miles.
