it looks nice.

I assume you plan on not driving the car much? if you plan on putting even 5k a year on it, it won't be worth it financially IMHO

I wonder about the tranny. They state its the factory 6sp Borg Warner. I thought the LT4's had the ZF 6speed. Am I wrong? Maybe its just a simple mistake but there is a difference in the two.

:w

Do you base that on the price going upward of $18000.00? I doubt I could put less than 5K on it per year.

Suff....as a recent purchaser of an LT4 myself, I'll give you this input. As it stands now, this is a great deal. As long as the owner is honest and the car is straight, I would say go ahead. I purchased mine with 50K on the clock and paid $17K. The bad part of ebay is that the price may go up drastically before the auction ends. If thats the case, then I would cap it at 18K. Anything over that may not be financially sound. I wish you luck and say go for it!!

Of course if you get a deal, don't worry about it...

but late model corvettes (C4-C6) have mileage based values. You could pick up an LT4 'driver' with 50k on it for $14k. So, if you are putting miles on the car, in 5 years what is the difference in value between 100 and 125k miles? hardly any value difference at that point. There is a reverse progressive $/mile with these cars. The first 25k miles cost the most/mile... from 25-50k costs the next most $, from 50-75 the price falls off / mile, and after 75 the price per mile is pretty cheap.

Calling on the LT4 experts here. What do you all think about this car on EBay?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4561619498&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
Value? Question for the owner?
I know Ebay isn't the best place to buy a car but this one caught my eye? CARFAX looked alright.
Taking any and all advice.

I can tell you that I think this is a 'false' add.. possibly a stolen add!! Happens offen on Ebay and especially with Harley's... I have called the telephone number listed several times...voicemail only and I drove through his listed town of Sheperdsville, KY to view it yesterday....never got any response...called for several days........CAUTION!!!

I think you right! I've attempted to contact him as well and nothing. Oh well, plenty of cars to look at out there.
Thanks everyone for the input.

Hey Suff....Stinger!! here....

I will tell you all something else that is suspicious about this add...read the answers to the questions asked on the bottom of the add...."off-white and black interior" ...... What is this ...... 'a one off factory only'?...He states in the add that this Vette is "all factory"!! Unless I am mistaken here, the "Admiral Blue" Vettes for 96' offered grey, beige or black interior color options ... THATS IT!!

No two tone "off-white and black"...correct me if I am wrong here, but I believe this is a "fake ebay listing"!!

Also, I would bet the real owner does not know this is listed....

Again....caution!!!

Also, he was able to post 3 or 4 pics, but mysteriously ran into issues with the rest. I would contact ebay and ask them to look into this add. If it is false, tracking it down now may stop someone else from getting hosed.

I put alot off effort into discovery with this sale and I finally got through to the seller. He is new to ebay and had no idea what he was supposed to do...nor did he know how to respond to ebay questions. After a couple of long conversations with him in the 'wee' hours of the morning, (he works 3rd shift and sleeps during the day) I decided to go for it!

Thats right I bought it!

Carfax is clean and I also spoke to the original owner. This seller is the second owner, but he only owned it for 3-4 months and drove it about 800 miles. The original owner is a retired court judge that sold it to buy a 2005 Vette.

I will report more about this after I get it home...I apologize for the earlier negative comments about this ebay listing as I was '****ed' over the fact of not getting any response to a 'poorly listed' add with a very attractive 96' Vette!!

We will see!!

I completely understand the frustrations of not hearing back from people...

Congrats on the new car:) how long until it is home?
