Not trying to be a smart ass...but has anyone checked the tire pressure with different gauges to see if the pressure is a bit low? I think I'd add a couple lbs and see what happened...

The dealer said he did that, added air pressure and that its normal for the light to do that..

So maybe the dealer is mistaken on both counts. It isn't normal. Check the pressure to be sure. It could just be low.

My suggestion is this:

Inflate all your tires to 35 psi when cold. Drive the car for several days with this higher inflation.

If the light does not illuminate for the first several feet the car is moving, you should be on the right track.

If that is the case, then lower the pressure to 30 psi in all four tires.

Hope this helps!

SAVE the WAVE! :w

That is not normal. The DIC will indicate 2 displays

Service LTPWS or Low Tire. The sensors report in after some distance & if there is a problem then the DIC will illuminate either /or.

Anyway, that's what I recall IIRC.

It says Service LTPWS and then after I drive no more then 10 or 15 feet it goes out..

It could br either the receiver or one of the sensors. The sensors are powered by Pizo batteries & are activated by the motion of the wheel.

They report to the receiver, etc.

If you are familiar with your on-board diagnostics....you can determine which is faulty by grounding pins #5 to #6 on the Data line connector.

Thata's about all I can remember.

Hib could give you a much better explanation.

Has anyone ever used Stop-Leak in these tires? That gums up the sensors real quick. The sensor is mounted on a band similar to a hose clamp that goes all the way around the rim...sometimes the band can get loose and/or slip.
If you can ID which wheel it is, deflate that tire and re-inflate. See if that makes a difference. If the problem continues, have that wheel & tire broken down to see whats going on inside...just warn the tire guy, or they'll find a way to break the sensor.
