Went to take off my wheels so I can cleanup and detail the wheel wells but one of the lug nuts is frozen and rounded off in the process (the "keyed" anti-theft nut). Any suggestions on how to remove?

I will replace all of the nuts and use regular ones in place of the anti-theft nuts.

George Most tire shops have a special socket which will cut into these and remove it.

I've seen the shops do it a couple of times...it's not anything special, just a size that's slightly bigger that will fit snugly over the wheel lock. Tap it on with a hammer, and using an impact gun, zip it right off. You might want to have some of the other lug nuts tight as to reduce the pressure on the one you are trying to remove.

If all else fails, I know Craftsman sells specific sockets like ErnieN85 was talking about. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00952160000&bidsite=CRAFT

Good Luck!

I just did this.. not the the locking nut however, just a frozen/overtightened lug that
rounded out on me.
What worked for me is a liberal wd40 soak and an 18mm deep socked (a tad too small to fit on) and hammered that bad boy on to the lug. One beer later I used a breaker bar and went for it. I found that pulling gave me better controll than pushing.
Good Luck!
