1986 Red Coupe
I bought a 1986 Coupe that has the Lumbar Support System for both Seats, however they, as most, don't work. I have the Shop Manual for my Car but it doen't show a good schematic of the Lumbar Support System. Does anyone know where I can obtain one ? How can I remove the Seat to get to it ?
Thanks, JD

Just unzip the back of the seat and there it is red ,blue ,white tubes the pump is on the passenger side seat base. Not real hard to fix them unless the pump does not work, that is about $150.00 but mid america has repair parts for it.

Zipper Location

Is the Zipper under the Leather Seats or in the back behind the plastic backing ?
Also, is there a separate fuse for the Lumba Support System ? I see a lot of wires under the Seat that are not connected. But I can't find anything to connect them too.

The seat back has the half moon arm rest things on each side of your waist just pull in towards the center of the seat.Between the plastic and the seat you will see the bolts their will be two bolts 10mm on each side unscrew them on each side and the seat back will come off when bolts out pull up to unlock seat plastic piece and there you are.:_rock

You don't need to remove the seat back. There is a clip under the front center of the seat bottom that will release the bottom cushion and give you access to the pump. There should be one for each seat. They went to a single pump later. Go to the following location for a cheap fix for nonworking pumps. The Tech Center tab is at the top of the screen, then just follow the path.

Good luck.

Thanks

I got the seat bottom off, connected the wires and the Pump runs but no air. I assumed the Pump diaphram was broken so I remove it, but found out the diaphram is broken & the plastic pieces around it too. The rest of the Pump & 3 Tubes where the diaphram fits too look OK. Where can I get the insides of this Pump ? I will check Mid-America.

I don't know of a source for parts. A complete new pump assembly is around $90. A little spendy but if you spend a lot of time in the car, it can be worth it.

Found Lumbar Pump

Jester,
I found the Lumbar Pump & Harness in Zip Products Web Site for about $42.
Think I am going to get 2 as both Pumps are defective.
Hey, does anyone know how I can get Pics. on here ?

Jabsco Pumps

I see Pumps from Jabsco but don't know whick ones would be the right ones.
I thought I ordered a Pump & Harness from ZIP Products but only got the Diaphram & Harness, no Pump. Called them and re-ordered for the correct one. Got a package today from ZIP and it was the same items. Called again and they haven't a clue why I am getting the wrong part. Look it up on their Web Site and tell me if Part # I-1335 says Pump & Harness ? The Pump I removed from my Vette was made by JASCO in 1992 telling me it was a replacement as my Vette is an 86. Are they worth the hassel finding them and will they last if i do find them ? I see the ones in Mid America costs $144.
Thanks
