I hope this is the right place for this, if it isn't, I'm sure I'll be told..LOL..In any case, I was having trouble starting it (as in not starting at all) so I decided to remove the MAF and spray the TB down with TB cleaner. Before I sprayed the TB, I decided to hit the starter and lo and behold, it cranked up. Now, if the car runs with the MAF removed, what damage could be done if ran without it?? AND, should it have started to begin with?? Sure hope this makes sense to someone.........

When my MAF died a few weeks ago I disconnected its electrical plug and drove the car 40 miles home. The engine will run a little different, as the ECM goes into a limp home mode when the MAF is not working. It feels like you turned off the ignition every time you take your foot off the accelerator. You will also get a error code and the check engine light will come on. As far as I know, you won't damage anything by driving with the MAF disconnected.
