Magic rear hatch

I sold my Vette about a month ago...
(I know Boooo on me)

...and the guy that bought it called me the other day asking me about the rear hatch.
(It's a '95 coupe)
Seems the hatch is opening at random times when the car is parked.
Never did that to me!

The first thing I suspected was the PKE, but he said that he had already taken the battery out of it and the hatch still does it's opening trick.

I have no idea what this could be and don't have the ability to go over and help the guy with it (He lives too far away).

Anyone got any ideas or had this happen before?

Stupid idea... but might he have placed some books or something in the center console. There's a hatch release button there...

I'd also check the switch in the door (my '93 had one on the driver's side door I think, my ,90 has one in each door) - the wires going into this switch could be shorting out maybe?

same thing happend to me turned out to be the PKE unit in the dash.

When I was having problems with my PKE system I searched for all the parts and sure enough the last part, the PKE receiver in the dash was the problem. I have a spare for $100.00 if anyone ends up needing one.
