Thinking about putting on a CATBACK SS Magnaflow system on my stock 86 convertible this year. Any input on choice of system, where to purchase, etc is appreciated. Just looking for a little more rumble than the stock system but not too loud for the convertible. Thanks.

Jeff will see this thread and let you know what he thinks. He has a video of it up somewhere.

Thx Edmond ;)

The best price is through www.performancepeddler.com BUT you must call them!

Tell them you are a CAC member and you want the bottom line price. They are a great outfit and will have it at your doorstep in 3 days.

If you want a system that is not too loud, MagnaFlow is a good choice

Ron .. :w

On the other hand, if you want something loud and obnoxious with a lot of resonance, get Flowmaster.:D

Thanks Jeff on the "Performance Peddler" info. I ended up calling them and they beat everyone's price by a long shot. They are shipping it out today. Thanks again.

You know, how everyone says (and I experience) the resonance that Flowmasters seem to have. We get so many folks asking for a system that does not have resonance and that isn't obnoxiously loud, Jeff's experience with the Magnaflow have gotten less resonance than Flowmaster.

I know you like them, as do I. I hadda tease you. The best cure for resonance is to put the top in the rear storage holders.

Or you could just turn up the Pink Floyd!:L

I'm really going to shoot for something LT4 and later this year. I want the 6 speed and I want it to be '96 or later for the OBDII (we have horrible emissions testing here, IMO).

If I do go LT4, I have to admit that it would be difficult to decide between the Magnaflow and Flowmaster. I love Flowmaster but the Magnaflows are stainless at such a good price and they sound mean.

I had mine installed in january and have loved it since! Nice rumble and great sound when you get on the car. magnaflows have my vote!

Why would you consider anything else? :D Magnaflows are the muffler of choice here at Advanced (my ride has em too!)

This is off the subject, but I viewed your web page and i think its very cool. I was just wondering if you ever thought of applying a letter filler kit to the rear bumper. My car is white, and I too have the magnaflow system. So I wanted to add a subtle touch to the rear, so I ordered the brushed chrome kit from Ecklers, part 42572, and it gave the car the look I wanted; check the photo.

OOOOH I LIKE! :D

How hard was the install?

Not hard at all, but is is required that you clean the area to be installed on, then clean the indents with alcohol. Take your time, lay the letters as straight as possible, then enjoy the look. I wish I could have gotten a better pic with the whole rear showing, because it really looks cool. I'll try to post a better pic later. It really looks good with the mufflers in the shot.

Cool...

59.99 @ Ecklers + shipping. Tried to grind 'em down on price but they wouldn't budge.

BTW...I'm trying to decide on a license plate cover cuz everyone seems to have 'em. Leaning towards black yet chrome might look good....whatdya think?

Thx again for the nudge ;)

Here is a better pic of my kit. I had to use flash for the first shot, natural light makes it look better.
