Man, the '73 is givin me fits. Brakes went south this week, will take it in next to have that fixed. But the worst problem is it started missing. I pulled the plugs and about half were burnt to a crisp. Even the ceramic had started to flow. Timing is dead on, and it runs fine on new plugs. Any thoughts?

Were the plugs that were in it really old or too hot a heat range?

Running very lean will do that too. You should run the new plugs some and check them out, see if they show any early signs of the same problem.

I have only had them in since December. They have maybe a thousand miles on them, if that. Lean I do not think is the problem. My clothes reak of fuel every time I drive it. Could a bad adjustment on the rockers cause them to burn?

Ahh, a valve not seating correctly could I suppose, adjusted the valves lately? How is it running? Are you sure there the correct heat range for the motor?

If they burned that badly that quickly I'b bet you have something way wrong going on somewhere in the head and/or valvetrain.
