Major problems - how do you do a compression test correctly?

Final update - CAM shaft is shot. Knowing what I know now - easy to identify issue.

I had a friend come over who knew what and how to set the valve lash. It turns out that one of the exhaust valves on passenger side barely moves. Being a rookie I never looked at that - taking off the valve cover with the car running didn't seem like something you could/should do. Now I know :)

New CAM, timing gears and rocker arms are on order.

Good to hear you got it figured out. I guess I was pretty close with my evaluation, although I figured it was something that had happened in the short term after your manifold replacement. Don't forget to take a look at your pushrods. if they are wearing thin on the ends where the holes are, definitely replace them too. Roll them on a flat table top and check to see if any are bent. I assume you are getting new lifters with the cam.

Good luck and have fun rebuilding your baby!
