does somebody knows why my 1984 vette shut off when the vacuum line from the MAP sensor is pulled-off from the crossfire? When the vacuum line is pulled-off the engine starts at extremely high RPMS! thanks!

Because the MAP sensor is a essential sensor for engine operation

When the vacuum line is pulled-off the engine starts at extremely high RPMS!
If the line to the intake is sucking air then you have a BIG vac leak which will always make a engine rev high

thanks so much for the info.....When you say "intake line", are you talking about the one that goes from the MAP to the rear "carburator"?..i replaced this line and the problem continued.

The MAP is new along with the ECM, coolant sensor, TPS, spark plugs, ignition coil, fuel pump and assembly, powerchip (hypertech), both injectors, IAC valves....My solution was to buy another red corvette 1995 38k miles! Any further advice will be really appreciated....by the way, I'm a chemist trying to be a mechanic!
